100 % vehicle inspection
Opus Equipment divested to Mekonomen.
It was here Opus began
The sale of Opus Equipment to Mekonomen is the definite step in streamlining the Group’s operations to vehicle inspection. It also means that an era in the Opus’ history ends.
It was by importing emission test equipment that Opus was founded in 1990 by Magnus Greko and Jörgen Hentschel. U.S demands on emission cleaning were followed by corresponding demands in Europe, and Opus brought the technology from USA. The product range expanded gradually with automotive lifts, brake tester and other equipment for auto repair shops and vehicle inspection stations. During the 25 years since the start, the company has developed into one the leading within this industry, with customers in more than 50 countries.
“The divestment feels partly sentimental”, Magnus Greko, CEO and President of Opus Group. “This is were it all began, but it is a strategic decision that feels right for the future.”
The sale of Opus Equipment means that Opus Group’s operations are streamlined to vehicle inspection with the clear objective to become a leading global company within this business. Jörgen Hentschel, CEO of Opus Equipment, will remain with Opus Equipment, together with the management and other staff.
“Opus Equipment is a successful company that will continue to develop well within Mekonomen Group” he says. “We will continue to supply test equipment and services to the companies within the Opus Group.”
