Opus Bilprovning turns four
Several news stations on the way.
Four years have passed since Opus Bilprovning began. This year, several new inspection stations were opened, and two or three more will be completed soon.
How it all began
On 5 November 2012, Opus Bilprovning took over the operation of 71 of the state-owned Swedish Motor Vehicle Inspection Company’s inspection stations. This was done as part of the deregulation of the Swedish vehicle inspection market and it gave Opus the opportunity to step into the market as a major player right from the start.
The objective has always been for customers to enjoy faster booking times and access to other useful services that make vehicle ownership easier and more economical. Improved road safety and reduced environmental impact are another two important points. Indeed, they are the very raison d’être of vehicle inspections.
Because improved accessibility is also important in a country the size of Sweden, the number of inspection stations is increasing throughout the land wherever there is a need.
New and upcoming inspection stations
There are currently four stations ready to open their doors for inspections. First in line is Västerås-Bäckby during the autumn and winter of 2016.
An inspection station for private cars and light trucks will open during the winter of 2016/2017 in Gothenburg and during 2017 two inspection stations for heavy vehicles will be opened – one in Stockholm/Kungsängen (Brunna Truck Center) and the other in Luleå.
Stockholm/Nacka – conveniently located for people who live in Stockholm’s southern suburbs – recently opened. At the moment it is only accepting private cars and light trucks, but during 2017 the intention is also to open for motorcycles.
In addition to these stations, others have opened in Linköping, Helsingborg and Gävle this year. The station at Arlandastad north of Stockholm has been given new, bright premises and is now open for even better service.
First in Sweden with 100% carbon offset for inspections
Inspections throughout the operation have achieved 100% carbon offsets since 1 January, and this includes the trips to the inspection stations. Opus is the first inspection company in Sweden to achieve this, and as yet no other operator has come this far. It all began a couple of years ago with proactive environmental management under ISO 14001 with measurements and calculations to make sure the company would pay the right sums for the carbon offset project Opus supports.
Fast, convenient vehicle information
The Vehicle Information function in the Opus Bilprovning app was totally unique on the smartphone market when it was launched. It allows access a great deal of information about a vehicle such as basic ownership and vehicle data, whether or not it has been inspected, its permissible towing weight and a great deal more just by tapping in the registration number. The app also shows any defects from the most recent inspection, which remains a totally unique feature.
The app is also greatly appreciated for its smart functions and services such as the ability to make bookings via the phone, on-the-spot accident reports with location markers, digital contracts for vehicle purchases and a function to help you remember when it’s time for your vehicle inspection.
